1323, Island of Vrgada or Fishing village shore dip, 50-70 cm, oil on canvas, 2013.
A female figure is about to swim in the lagoon of the fishing village.
Side story.
Vrgada is a remote island in the Croatian Adriatic, off the Dalmatian coast. This island is hardly inhabited. It is inhabited by a few artists seeking peace and concentration for their art, and fisherman's families permanently living there.
Sometimes sailors come there for a day to drift from island to island and soak up the incredible beauty of the sunny myriad of islands.
There are around 1200 islands, large and small. And all of them have their own character and peculiarity.
We are twelve artists on three sailboats travelling there to be inspired and to create an impromptu flash mob exhibition.
This painting is the result of many drawings and sketches made during our stay there.
